My kitten is about 4 months old, he starting nursing (sucking) on things as soon as we brought him home. It started with a blanket, then stuffed animals, the kitten bed, and now he has started doing it to our dog! He sucks on my dogs lip and my dog and him are buddies so he never does anything to make the kitten stop. I don’t understand why he is doing this? We have 2 other older cats and he leaves them alone.

Puppy Owns German Shepherd
Tuesday, April 13th, 2010
Girlfriends new puppy attacks their German Shepard Puppy is a mutt: Mix of a Chihuahua, Pomeranian, and Yorkie. Both dogs are very well behaved and trained very well. This is still one of their games. The GS taunts her to get whatever toy it has. This is the Original, all others are stolen.

Why do some people treat their pets like humans?
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010I’m just curious. Why do some people treat animals better than they treat human? Why do some pet owners act as if their pets ARE human? I just don’t get it. I just find it strange how some pets are doted on so much. When worst comes to worst you still have to rely on other humans to help you, not animals…
I’ve now read about 10 or so replies and thank you for that. It’s given me great insight. I’ve never owned a dog or a cat (but have smaller animals) not because I don’t like them but because I wasn’t allowed one as a kid and so never grew up around them and never got used to them like most people do.
So now when I go to other people’s (friends) houses and see dog/cat hair everywhere I feel slightly repulsed. And I hate when they lick my face.
I also have another ‘issue’ with rich people who get dogs or cats (or heck even kids!) and don’t even look after them themselves and just pay others to do it – what’s the point?
How does moving pets overseas work?
Sunday, March 21st, 2010I don’t envisage living in Australia my whole life, but more importantly I don’t envisage ever leaving any of my pets. I expect specifically my dog and bird (cockatiel) to live at least another 10-15 years, so I just thought I’d ask, in general, how it works moving pets overseas.
I know they have to go into some kind of “quarantine”, what does that actually mean? Do they take your dog away from you or something? Or is it more like, he can’t leave the house for a while before you leave or something?
For a long plane journey, how are dogs and birds transported? Are they sedated or anything? Is that dangerous, especially for birds?
Is it dangerous to move a small bird like a cockatiel? Also, what about that bird flu thing, if they had it in a country, would you be allowed to bring the bird back to Australia again?
How can I get my new kitten to like my dog?
Tuesday, March 9th, 2010I just got a new kitten. She has been socialized with other cats, but not dogs. My dog really likes her, but the kitten still hisses at the dog. I have tried keeping them in separate rooms, and slowly introducing them, but the kitten won’t cooperate. They are sleeping in the same room only 3 feet away from each other, but if my dog gets any closer, the kitten gets scared. How do I get her to like my dog?

What jobs are out there that work directly with pets?
Saturday, July 11th, 2009I know that there is a vet, but I am worried I am not smart enough considering it is so competitive. Also I know there is an animal behaviorist, but what exactly do they do? How much do they get paid? Where do they work? How much school and what schooling? And do they work directly with pets? I love pets, I am always wanting pet after pet. Guinea pigs, cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, lizards, anything pets are so cool and I want a job that deals with them. I also want to be making decent money, where I can support a family.
